Why “it looks nice” is the wrong question
Most AI room tools redesign the whole picture. You upload your living room and get back a different, prettier living room with furniture nobody sells. That’s fun, and it answers nothing about the specific sofa in your cart.
When you are about to spend real money, the questions are narrower. Will the 224 cm version block the doorway? Does the rug reach under the front legs? Is the wardrobe going to loom? Roomephant keeps your room as it is and drops one exact product into it, so you can answer those questions by looking.
How the size comes out right
A photo has no scale of its own. A cut-out sofa pasted onto a room photo can be any size and still look plausible, which is why previews from most tools feel convincing and then the delivery doesn’t fit. We do three things to avoid that.
- Read the real dimensions. Width, depth and height come straight from the product page you pasted. Amazon, Wayfair, IKEA and JYSK listings load automatically; for anything else you can type them in.
- Estimate the depth of your room. The photo is turned into a depth map, so the floor plane and the distance to the wall are measured rather than assumed.
- Calibrate against things of known size. Doors, outlets, radiators and standard-height counters appear in almost every room photo and have predictable sizes. They anchor the scale. On our test rooms this brings the error down to about 6%; a plain resized cut-out was off by 13 to 43% depending on the photo.

Is the furniture shown at its actual size?
Yes. We take the width, depth and height from the product page and place the item in your photo at that size, using a depth estimate of your room. On our test set the size error is around 6%, which is roughly the difference between a 200 cm and a 212 cm sofa.
Do I need to measure my room first?
No. The scale of your room is estimated from the photo itself: doors, outlets, counter heights and the floor plane. If you have a tape measure handy, you can enter one known dimension and the preview snaps to it.
What if the store is not on your list?
Upload a photo of the product instead of a link, type in its dimensions from the listing, and it works the same way. The store list only affects whether dimensions load automatically.
Is this an AI room redesign tool?
